Comments & Forums

Note

This document is about the mechanics of commenting and interacting; also see the Community Guidelines.

The FAWM community is welcoming, open and inclusive. Other users on the website are your peers, and we ask that you treat them accordingly, with respect and politeness. As we’ve already said, you should follow Wheaton’s Law at all times.

Forums

The forums are where fawmers get to know each other, organise exquisite corpses (see the glossary) or collaborations or FOPs, play games, make new contacts, and generally be a community.

Leaving comments

When you’re trying to grow as a songwriter, finding out what sort of reaction your song created in a listener is incredibly helpful. What sort of emotions did it trigger? How did it make your listeners feel?

Being able to identify the thing you did which made a connection with somebody else is the ultimate goal of taking part in FAWM, so please remember this when you leave a comment on somebody else’s song. “Thanks for sharing!” might be a nice and polite message, but it isn’t going to help the songwriter figure out why a song worked or not in any way at all!

Profile / Soundboard Comments

A fawmer’s profile page is where you can leave messages of appreciation and encouragement for them, or just say hello. Please note that these messages are not private; anyone who visits a fawmer’s profile page will be able to read what you wrote.

Image Uploads

As a thank-you benefit for fawmstars who donate $25 or more, you can upload images directly into your liner notes, lyrics, forum posts, and comments!

Drag and drop: Simply drag an image file from your computer and drop it onto any text area. The image will be uploaded and inserted at your cursor position.

Paste from clipboard: You can also paste images directly using CTRL+V (or CMD+V on Mac). This is handy for screenshots or images you've copied from other applications.

Once uploaded, images are embedded using standard Markdown syntax and will appear inline with your text.

Note: Image hosting requires a donation

Image uploads are only available to fawmers who have donated $25 or more. If you haven't donated at this level, you can still link to images hosted elsewhere using Markdown: ![alt text](https://example.com/image.jpg)
