Archiving
If you ask it to, the site will create a web page for you (in HTML) which gathers all of the liner notes, lyrics, and comments received on all of the songs you've posted, together with all the messages that people have left on your profile page. You can then save this web page to your device's hard drive as a permanent record of your work this year.
Find the Archive option in the menu at the top right, under your account avatar:
In all modern web browsers, you may choose to:
- Save as Webpage/HTML (e.g.,
CTRL
-S on Windows or -S on Mac) - Print a paper copy (e.g.,
CTRL
-P on Windows or -P on Mac) - Save as PDF from the Print menu
It is worth updating your archive file every few days or so during the challenge. Certainly once March arrives you will want to try and archive at least once before the site closes on March 15. Once the site goes into hibernation for the year, you will not be able to access those comments and messages any more. They'll be gone forever!
Tip: Also back up images and audio files!
The archive file created when you click Archive will NOT include any audio files of the songs themselves. You will need to make your own backups of those!
You should also remember that you need to create the archive yourself by clicking on the menu item. It will not be generated automatically for you.
